President's Message

Dr. Vijay Mehta
Dear Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I take responsibilities as the President of our prestigious organization ANMI for the year 2023-24.
It's indeed a great honour for me as this citadel has been previously occupied by eminent personalities of our trade. Their immense contribution over the last more than 25 years has made ANMI the true representative Voice of Indian Capital markets.
My able predecessor Mr. Kamlesh Shah has made a great contribution last year by his sheer hard work, perseverance, strong public relations and new policy initiatives. Kamlesh Bhai has very kindly assured me of his full cooperation and I thank him for his graciousness. I am happy to have Mr. Vinod Goyal with me as Alternate President and wish to draw upon his vast knowledge and wisdom for a better working at ANMI.
ANMI today is a young organization with proper infrastructure across India, talented regional chairmen duly supported by their respective managing committee members and a hard-working central office team. ANMI working and policy initiatives are well guided by an efficient Board of Directors. With the help of such dynamic associates, I am looking forward to an exciting eventful year to serve our large broker community.
In consultations with my colleagues, I have short-listed the following broad areas of ANMI working during the ensuing year,
· Coordination with SEBI and stock exchanges.
· Standardization of compliance and back office softwares.
· People-to-people contact with all our broker members.
· Organizing of educational and networking events.
· Emphasis on use of social, print and electronic media.
· Strengthening of international affairs and relationships
The road ahead is quite challenging especially with the markets becoming more dynamic and rapid changes into hitherto unchartered territories. India is emerging as one of the superpowers in the world economic order and is expected to soon become the 4th largest economy. We at ANMI will have to keep pace with this migration for a brighter future and work for a more vibrant capital markets in days to come. The younger generation is now expected to spearhead leadership in shaping our country's future, and also play a bigger role in strengthening our markets. We must all keep faith in the inherent strength of India and work hard as an efficient catalyst in the country's progress.
I am a second generation stock broker. My father late Shri Jai Chand Mehta was the founder director of Punjab Stock Exchange in 1937 (Now known as Lahore Stock Exchange) in pre-partition India. I entered business in 1983 and have been a witness to the changing capital markets scenario. The time is round the corner to handover the baton to the well educated, computer savvy, highly talented, young generation. I am happy that ANMI shall play a meaningful role in this transition. I will try to involve and initiate programs for our new generation to make them competitive in the international arena.
No organization can work or grow without an active participation from all its constituents. I understand the pressure of work on my colleagues but I will request them to spare some time to devote for our collective cause. Our united voice can make things happen much faster and bring changes for our collective benefit.
Warm Regards and looking forward to your co-operation in my journey as President ANMI for the year 2023-24.
