I did my schooling from St. Xavier School, Delhi securing 2nd position in the merit list of All India Higher Secondary Examination in 1976. Thereafter I completed my B.com (H) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi (1976-79) and MBA from Faculty of Management Studies (1979-81). In both B.com (H) and MBA, I had been a rank holder and recipient of the All India Entrance Scholarship.
I have been actively associated with capital market since 1981. Initially, I worked as a merchant banker and then move to direct marketing of public issues successfully positioning my parent firm Bharat Bhushan & Company (Established in 1954) among the top 10 New Issue Distributors on All India basis in the1990s.
I was elected as Director on the Board of Delhi Stock Exchange (DSE) from 1996-1998 and was actively involved in introducing the Trade Guarantee Fund and modified Badla Mechanism in the DSE. I was appointed Member on the Committee for Settlement of Issues and Dispute Resolution Committee of National Stock Exchange from 1998-2001.
I was elected as the President of the DSE for 2001-2002. In 2002, I was elected as Chairman of Federation of Indian Stock Exchanges representing 20 Stock Exchanges from 2002 to 2004. During this tenure, I was nominated to various committees of SEBI including the Secondary Market Advisory Committee.
In 2011 I was elected as an Executive Member of the ANMI (NR). In 2012-13, I was elevated to the post of Chairman of ANMI (NR) from 2012-13 to 2014-15 served as Director on the National Board of ANMI as well as Chairman of the Government of India Committee.
In December 2017, I was elected as a Director of Delhi Stock Exchange Ltd and the Board appointed me as Chairman of DSE. Subsequently on 3rd April 2018 ANMI elected me as Alternate President & Director on the National Board of ANMI for the financial year 2018-19.
